Late last fall, Robert met up with Kelsey and Drew at their wedding venue, Panorama Farms in beautiful Earlysville, VA. Kelsey just happens to be the catering and event coordinator for The Catering Outfit, so she knows a thing or two about weddings! Robert already knew Kelsey of course, through the local wedding world, and had met Drew once. When he came home from this engagement session, he proclaimed “I love those guys”! To say they had a good time would be an understatement. Kelsey and Drew’s big day is right around the corner, and we couldn’t be more excited for them!

Q&A with Kelsey!
In a nutshell, how did you meet?
A good friend of mine (and a bridesmaid) moved to Charlottesville about a year before I did after undergrad. By the time I moved here, she had found quite a group of friends that bonded over school and worked and lived in the same apartment complex. Within my first week of living here, she had introduced me to this group and the moment I met Drew, I knew it was over. It took us almost a year of missed connections and other relationships before we decided to give one another a shot.
How long have you been together?
As of our wedding date in April, it’ll be 5 years and 3 days since our first date.
What are you most looking forward to on your wedding day (besides marrying Drew of course)?
This may sound cliché coming from a catering director, but the FOOD. We’ve been dialing in on our final menu these last few weeks and my mouth waters just thinking about it. Truly don’t think our guests have any idea what’s coming to them. I’m also looking forward to all of the little details Meghan Streit and I have come up with for day-of to add in some unique and colorful components.
What has been the most fun part of wedding planning?
Wedding planning has definitely been a whirlwind. It’s crazy to think I do this every day for so many other couples, but being on the other side of it for once I can truly appreciate the stress and anxiety and excitement of it all. One of the most fun days I’ve had so far was shopping for my dress. We spent hours upon hours in Richmond hunting down what I thought didn’t exist outside of Pinterest…until my sister found that one dress that brought everyone to tears…including the sales lady. I thought moments like that only happened in cheesy rom-coms so it was such an overwhelmingly exciting moment for all of us!
What has been the most surprising part of wedding planning?
The most surprising part of wedding planning has been Drew’s involvement. I didn’t really picture him as the groom-planner type, but he has definitely inserted his opinion where he feels necessary in whatever component: flowers, colors, menu, room design, etc. It has been so entertaining watching him delve into my world of weddings from time to time and I think he’s surprised himself with how much he may enjoy it.
