So, a few weeks ago this happened:
(my current ad in the Best of Cville magazine)
How cool is that? I can tell you…it’s pretty damn awesome. I am so grateful for all the folks who took the time to vote for me and for the cheerleaders who have encouraged me along the way. I’ve said it a million times over the last month, but I’ll say it again: it really means the world to me. I only wish my dad was alive to see it. He would have been so proud.
Here’s the thing though…this town is overflowing with talented photographers. Do I, by any stretch of the imagination, believe that I am indeed the very best wedding photographer in all of Charlottesville? Not on your life. I am the lucky one who managed to get the most votes. The other nominees, Aaron Watson, Amy Jackson, Sarah Cramer Shields, and of course, the incomparable Jen Fariello, are all equally deserving of this accolade. There are sooooo many talented photographers in this town! Every single one of us works really, really hard to fine tune our craft, to develop relationships with our clients, to provide stellar customer service, to be thoughtful and artful while documenting the most important moments of peoples’ lives, and to find ways to give back to our community.
Being named Best of Cville is such a huge honor and I won’t lie, after being in the business for over twenty years, it definitely feels nice to be recognized. The messages of congratulations and well-wishes has been overwhelming (in a good way). So consider this a big bear hug and a huge thank you. You all rock!

Last year, Robert was approached by Walter Slawski of The Catering Outfit, to photograph a styled shoot in the heart of downtown Charlottesville. Styled shoots in the wedding industry are a more recent trend, and here in Charlottesville, most of these “inspiration” shoots take place in some kind of rustic setting. We loved Walter’s ideas, and jumped at the opportunity to work with his team, as well as Meghan from Shindig, Pat and Sherry of Southern Blooms, and an array of other incredible local wedding vendors. The night Robert photographed the tablescape was the same night Snoop Dog was at the downtown Pavilion. The mall was hustling and bustling and intrigued people stopped to watch the action, ask questions, and admire the beautiful table. Afterwards, Chef Walter prepared an amazing meal for a group of local vendors. What an amazing experience.
This styled shoot, affectionately known on Instagram as #awwchic, was featured recently on Ruffled, a premier wedding blog. To see the full feature click here!
Yes, there is a recap of the recap! 2015 was broken into 6 separate blog posts, but we also put together an abridged recap. Sounds a little over the top, but we thought it was a nice way to wrap things up.
