Sneak Peek: Kristen & Christina, October 16, 2021

Here’s a secret…I am incredibly superstitious. I am sure it has to do with my Malagasy roots (my father’s toast at my wedding was largely about the many Malagasy superstitions having to do with marriage/family). When it rained for quite a bit of the day on Kristen and Christina’s wedding day, I hesitated to tell them that in my many years of photographing weddings, I have only had one that needed to be moved indoors…and that was a small wedding at the groom’s parent’s home. I didn’t want to jinx them, but I told them, “it will not rain during the ceremony”, and it didn’t. The rain stopped, the clouds eventually cleared and we had an unbelievable sunset.

The truth is, even if it had rained, nothing was going to stop this from being an absolutely perfect day. Congratulations Kristen & Christina! I’m so honored to have spent the day with you and your wonderful friends and family.

Sneak Peek: Charlotte & William, September 25, 2021

Charlotte & William were married at the beautiful Boxwood Villa in downtown Orange, Va surrounded by their closest friends and family. It was a perfect September day and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to document this day for them. The bubble exit on their motorcycle may be my favorite image of the day (make sure to scroll down to check it out)!

Jana & Alan’s Backyard Wedding, August 1, 2020

Jana & Alan’s backyard wedding was a small, family affair that highlighted the times we were in last summer. Surrounded by their sweet family and an officiant who appeared via Zoom, Covid was not going to hinder their joy!

Spring Short Sessions Recap

I offered my first Short Sessions in the fall of 2010. A friend planted the seed for the idea and we just decided to go for it. We learned along the way, what worked for us and what did not, but the format for the Short Sessions has remained the same all these years. Clients pay a small sitting fee for a short portrait session and all prints and digital files are purchased separately. This is different from just about every other photographer who offers these type of portrait sessions, but I have found it works well because it also relieves the pressure on families for everything to be just right.

Here is a sampling of Short Session images from this past spring. My 2021 fall Short Sessions are almost booked…just one time slot open! I still have some availability for a full, one hour family portrait session so please inquire for more details!

Charlotte & William’s Engagement Session

Just about a year ago I received this message: “Hello! I hope you are well. My name is William and I am currently deployed to Iraq. My fiancé, Charlotte is currently deployed to Afghanistan so we are probably not your typical customers.”

It has been an honor and a privilege to correspond with and finally meet William and Charlotte. When William asked if he could bring his son to the engagement session I said absolutely, and I am so glad he did. He was a trooper, hanging back while Charlotte and William posed for portraits, expertly photobombing them, and joining in with an easy smile when asked. I cannot wait to photograph their wedding in just a few weeks!
