Jamie and Mike had the sweetest wedding last summer at Blenheim Vineyards (of Dave Matthews fame:). I usually tear up at some point as I cull through the weddings Robert photographs, but this one really got me! From Jamie’s first look with her dad, to their “Best Dog” (aka Mr. T), to the mother-daughter dance, it is obvious that their day was not only beautiful, it was sentimental and full of personal touches.
Jamie and Mike’s wedding has been featured on Borrowed & Blue, and I’m thrilled that we are able to share more of their spectacular day here on the blog. Many thanks to Jamie for taking some time to fill out a short Q&A, which you’ll find at the very end! Enjoy! ~Lauren and Robert
Special songs?
First dance – Mike choose this song and it was a perfect mix of my love for 80’s and Mike’s love of country – Lionel Richie and Darius Rucker’s version of Stuck on You.
Father/Daughter dance – My dad and I have had *our* song since I was a very little girl – it was no question what we would dance to – Rod Stewart’s Forever Young.
Mother/Daughter dance – It seems like dad gets most of the spotlight the wedding night and I wanted to be sure to recognize my mom and her importance in my life. We also cherish a song together – Queen – You are My Best Friend.
Favorite parts of the wedding day?
*Our first look
*Everything going smoothly – weather, Mr T being there, surrounded by family/friends and memories to last a lifetime
*Slice of pizza at 2am
Big surprises?
*Two of my best girlfriend’s amazing toast – through 80’s songs they were able to tell the audience my journey to get to Mike.
*Mike’s step sister, Robyn, getting up on bar stool at the after party and toasting us as well as telling how important Mike is to her.
Honeymoon adventures?
Mini-moon in Asheville, NC with Mr T – best man. We had an amazing time bouncing between breweries, hiking and enjoying the scenery. Mr T even enjoyed his first Uber ride.
Our official honeymoon was over Christmas break in Peru. Between exploring the streets and cuisine of Lima, the altitude of Lake Titicaca, hiking the Inca Trail over Christmas to, thankfully, finally arrive at Machu Picchu in clear weather after 4 days of rain, to staying in an eco-lodge in the Amazon it was an extremely memorable, strenuous and exhausting trip but worth every second – even the times I was cursing and wishing we were in Hawaii like other ‘normal’ honeymooners.
